Tiny scratches and swirls on your chrome are caused by improper washing oftentimes. Most people use only one wash bucket and, each time you dip your sponge or mitt in the bucket, you are depositing dirt into your wash water. After a couple of dips, you’re just recontaminating your mitt and those particles of sand and dirt are going to wind up scratching your motorcycle. To keep your wash water clean, put a Grit Guard Insert in the bottom of the bucket.

Two Grit Guards are better than one! For optimum paint protection, stack two Grit Guards in one bucket. The stacked grids stand 5” above the bottom of the bucket and stabilize more water. Directions:
Put the Grit Guard into a 3-5 gallon bucket and fill it up with your favorite shampoo (DP Auto Bath Shampoo is a great one) and start washing.
Each time you need to re-wet your mitt, drag it across the Grit Guard to release all the dirt you’ve just removed from your motorcycle.
